I’m Drew Dykes and I am Junior at Cold Springs High School in Cullman, Alabama. I run Cross Country, Track, and play Basketball for CSH. I moved to CSH in November 2022 just in time to play basketball and run for the outdoor track team. During my Sophomore track season at CSH I ran times in the 3200, 1600, 800, and 400 I was unaware I could achieve. Prior to attending CSH I was a student at Baldwin County High School where I ran cross country since the 7th grade. During my last cross country season at BCHS my 5K time was 19:04 with lots of room for improvement. I have now experienced a different training regimen at CSH and I believe this year I will see my best 5K times yet!
Cold Springs High School was my first experience in track and field. During my first season my times improved consistently at each meet. I am excited to say, I broke five minutes (4:54) on the 1600 and expect my junior and senior year to continue to improve. I ran for the CSH 4x800 relay team and we won the state championship and set the new state record for 4x800 in the 1-3A state classification. In this race I split 2:06 which was a great personal record!
I am a member of the National Honors society and I take all honors classes. I have taken all honors courses throughout my middle school and high school career. Like with running, I enjoy the mental strength and toughness these courses require. In running and in other aspects of life I strive to keep my faith in God first which helps me to keep my character in check on and off of the course.
Upon meeting me you will learn that I have great character, academic abilities, and the determination and drive that will represent your team well. My collegiate aspirations are to compete nationally at the collegiate level and achieve academic success through hard work and perseverance.
