My name is Will Hauser, and I am a junior at Menlo School in Atherton, California (graduating 2025). I played multiple sports growing up (soccer, baseball, basketball) and moved to XC and track as a freshman in high school. As a sophomore last school year, I ran a 1:54.98 (800 relay split), 4:13.74 (1600), and 9:20.90 (3200). The highlight of my high school career so far was when our 4x800 team finished 2nd in the 2023 California State Track Meet. We set our CCS sectional record, running a time of 7:39.10. Our team also broke a 46 year old CCS sectional record in the 4x1600 (17:19.22) at the Mt. Sac Relays and won the 4x800 at the Oregon Relays in a meet record of 7:49.13. These experiences have really made me value the importance of a team-focused program which I would love to have in my collegiate experience as well.
I also greatly value my education and work hard in the classroom. I enjoy all my classes but particularly like the sciences. I look forward to narrowing my career options in a science related field once I have the opportunity to take more specialized classes in college.
Outside of the classroom and track/XC course, I have spent the past few summers as a counselor at a local sports camp that I attended as a camper myself when I was younger. I’ve enjoyed the opportunity to share my love of sports with campers and give back to an organization that helped develop my leadership skills, sense of community and thirst for competition.
I am excited to be part of a competitive collegiate XC/track team where I believe I can bring my strong work ethic and a calm and consistent approach to training and racing.
