Personal Statement
Making it to the Cross Country State Meet at Woodward Park in Fresno this year has so far been the highlight of my cross country high school career. Although, I feel that I grew the most as a student-athlete my sophomore year when my team didn't make the state meet. It was my first time on varsity that year, and I was very disappointed that I was not going to be able to run in the state meet that year just like the varsity team did my freshman year. That experience motivated me to work harder the following track season and even harder over the summer. In my mind, all the work I put in made sure that I was ready for the upcoming cross country season, and that I would see a significant improvement in my times from my sophomore to junior year season.
I have so far been blessed to be apart of such an amazing running program, placing 1st, 3rd, and 1st in the city of Los Angeles over the past three years I've been in high school, and I believe we will be able to win next year as well. So far I have learned the values of hard work, commitment, and sacrifice since I have been apart of this program. I also aspire to learn leadership as well my senior year if I am selected to be one of the team captains. I'm looking for a program that will be a good fit for me athletically as well as academically. I truly believe that I will not only have the skill to compete for a college program by the end of my high school running career, but the character, work-ethic, and drive it takes to be successful on a college team as well. After winning numerous medals from invitationals, league, and city meets, I know what it takes to be able to make an impact on your team.
