my name is Giovanni Tavarez and I’m a senior and 2024 track runner from Brookfield, Connecticut.
As a student, I am hardworking and productive. Last year, I ended the last school year with a 3.7gpa. I am taking AP computer science this year in hopes to challenge myself. I am very interested in MIT work, and hope to possibly focus on this area in the future. Not only am I hardworking as a student, but I am also a hard working athlete.
I’ve had the privilege of playing on the Varsity track and field team last year for the first time and loved every second of it. A manager of the team reached out to me during the mid season to join their team in hopes of improving my speed, which I gracefully accepted. I had never thought about joining a track team until then so that would be my first time running for any teams. During the last outdoor track season I was pushed past my limits to succeed and try my hardest to beat every pervious record. I started my season running a 12.3 100m and 25.8 200m and while fighting shin splints and missing practices because of that, I was able to successfully run a 11.7 100m and 24.9 200m.
I was as-well able to run a 4.5 second 40m aswell as a 18.4 second 150m. I also made SWC championships and States during my first track season.
Over the summer, I ran and weightlifted in hopes of increasing my skill furthermore.
My second season of track was my indoor 2024 season. I first started with a 7.03 55m and a 39.89 300m. I ended my season with a 6.77 55m and a 39.07 300m
Now is the start of my second and final high school outdoor season. I started off pretty strong in my 100m with a 11.1 for my first meet which was a big pr for me. My first 200m of the season had me at a 23.2 which was a big PR from 24.9. At practice i also ran a 16.03 150m.
Please feel free to access my profile on athletic.net which includes athletic information. If you would like to see videos of me running, I will gladly show you. Thank you for your consideration. I hope to learn more about your program and work towards running track at the next level.
Sincerely, Giovanni Tavarez [email protected]
