My name is Ben Ostrowski, and I love to run. I am 5'10", 155 pounds and I run cross country and indoor track. Last season, I was ranked 20th in the nation for the 600m.
I began track as a sophomore, and in my first year was named All-ECC. I was part of a 4x400 relay team that placed second in the Class MM State meet, third in the CT State Open meet, and tenth in the New England meet, running a time of :52. I also finished fourth in the Class MM State meet in the 1000 meters, with a time 2:39.
In my junior year, as captain of my team, I was Class MM State Champ for the 600m. I ran anchor legs on two relay teams and both won Class MM state championships: the sprint medley and the 4x800. In the 2012 State Open, I ran a PR in the 600 (1:22:02) and qualified for New Englands. I also qualified for New Englands as anchor of the 4X800 relay team. In New Englands, our 4x800 team placed 9th, and I placed 5th in the 600 meters, receiveing All-New England honors. For the 2011-2012 indoor season The New London Day has named me "Athlete of the Year."
I can run any distance from the 300 meters to the 1200, and the mile if neccessary. I truly enjoy working on my speed under any weather conditions, always working towards a better time. I am often the only one on the team who looks forward to the track workouts, and the only one happy to do extra work on handoffs. I would like to stay on the East Coast for college, but I am definitely open to offers from all over. I am also open to most types of schools, though I would like a good school academically because my education is very important to me. I enjoy journalism very much, and would like to major in it, but would consider anything having to do with English and/or music. I would love to run and be a contributing member of a college track team.
