Nathan Amundson '23 Recruiting Profile

Running is a very significant part of my life. It has impacted me greatly and has taught me many important skills such as perseverance, dedication, and how to lead by example. I am very excited to see how much I can use these skills to grow in my last two years of high school. 

I believe that an athlete is not just made on the field, but in the mind as well. On the track, I am very coachable and listen to advice from my coaches. Off the track, I have a 3.67 GPA and am looking for a college that has a strong civil or manufacturing engineering program.

As a sophomore, one of my best athletic achievements was qualifying for the Minnesota 1AA Cross Country State Championships. This was sadly canceled due to Covid, but that only made me more eager to rise up and qualify for the Track and Field State Championships in the 4x800m. Our relay team placed 10th overall with a finishing time of 8:09. I am also a two time all-conference cross country qualifier. One of my biggest dreams, when I am a senior in high school, is to become a team captain for our track, cross country, and nordic ski teams. I believe I would be a strong captain because of my hard working mindset and leadership qualities.

In the off season, I run for the Track Minnesota Elite AAU team coached by Melvin Anderson. He has taught me the importance of being professional and how much proper form yields good results.

What I am looking for in a college setting is dedicated coaches and teammates who will push, encourage, support one another and will not back down when challenged, both on and off the track.
