Patience- The capacity to accept or tolerate delay, trouble, or suffering without getting angry or upset.
Having patience is important because in a lot of circumstances waiting can save and help from future problems. Rushing to solve a problem before thinking isn't the best solution and can make things worse, and is a skill I advise everyone to obtain.
I grew up already knowing what my goal was, but I didn't feel like I had any way to get there or to motivate me. I didn't like to do any of my work and thought school was pointless. There was no role model for me and felt like no one was there for me, no one that had any patience or true ability to make me believe they could be a role model. Then my sister came back into my life and changed my view of everything and gave me hope. She started motivating me and telling me all the things I needed to hear to wanna start and do better. She was there to tell me that things take time and I can't rush it. She taught me how powerful patience can really be because now it's a life skill I need for sports, school, jobs, and just social skills. She encouraged me to do what I believed in and I'm thankful for her support.
My first year running track with no experience, no track to practice on, no sandpit to practice jumping on,and my school not caring as much about track. I have to practice outside on a side walk on my own time to really change. It was hard and basically felt impossible to even progress on track. Then I ended up being the third fastest runner in my school history and went on to open up with my writing skills. I started doing poetry class to even going to an open mic and performing poetry in front of people i've never met. I started having goals and wanting to actually do better at school and do things i've never thought i'd be doing. I was able to have the two people faster than me at Kauffman tell me that they believe I can beat their time if I truly keep going and want to. My first year running track with no experience
