Personal Statement

My name is Blake McLain and I run track at Lincoln East High School. I started track in 8th grade and ever since have loved it. I have a lot of goals i want to accomplish throughout my running career and strive everyday to get there. I've been lucky enough to be apart of a team at East that is positive and has the attitude to get better everyday which has taught me many things that go farther than just the sport itself. Track has taught me alot about mental mindset and relaxation which are my two things I try to improve on every day.

I've went through a lot of sacrifice and struggle throughout my life so I know how to handle adversity well. I know how it feels to be at the bottom and have to work your way to the top and I aspire to become the best. The struggle in life has only made me stronger and push myself mentally and physically harder. Any university that I attend is sure to get a very respectful and hard working, dedicated student athlete.

Track taught me commitment and how to understand myself as a person better. I am never afraid to back down from a challenge. My biggest strengths are my positive attitude about things, passion, and my work ethic. What separates me from other athletes is my ability to fail and use it to fight my fears and become stronger from it. I'm always looking for new ways to challenge myself to become better. In college I plan on studying Business Administration/ Management and Marketing. My family and I have financial aid and will be applying for support for college. My goals athletically for college are to compete in meets as a freshman and to compete at the highest competition level possible. I have a positive attitude towards my teammates and coaches and love the atmosphere that track and field brings to me. This is my passion and I guarantee to bring my all to whichever university I attend!

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
