My name is Logan Alvarez. I am a junior at Friends Academy in Locust Valley and started running both winter and spring track in my freshman year. In the winter I run the 300m dash and the 55m dash, and in the spring I run the 400m dash, 200m dash, 100m dash, and the 4X400 relay as the leadoff.
When I started running, I did not realize how much I would love the sport and how instrumental it would be in molding my high school career. Track has taught me many lessons that can be applied to school and everyday life. Track taught me to give 100 percent in everything I do. I am always working at a high level to reach my personal goals as an athlete and a productive member of society.
One of my most significant characteristics is being an active listener. I am easy to work with because I am relatable and always open to learning. Running track is both an individual and team sport and I realized just how much being a team player meant to me. I became most energized by the unity of our team when we went to the States Championship for the 4X400 and came in 1st place.
Running has changed me so much as a person, and I am excited to become a better runner in college.
