My name is Tristan and I am a Junior at the Lycée Français de New York, a bilingual French-American high school in NY. I will graduate in 2025 and am eager to compete in XC and Track and Field in undergrad.
I come from a family with a strong academic and athletic background. My grandfather and my father competed at national level in 800-1500m and high jump respectively. My mother and my father graduated from a highly competitive college in business and engineering in France (top 2-3 in their respective fields) and are now highly successful in their careers in the US. I have known what it means to give 100% on and off the field since my youngest age.
After playing ranked tennis and being part of a competitive climbing club at regional level, I joined the XC and Track team in my High school - I was promoted to the Varsity team in my Freshman year. I have enjoyed being successful individually and as a team both in XC and Track. I brought my 5000m XC time from 21:20 to 19:17 in 1 year and established the all time HS record in 800m with a time of 2:01 in the NYCAL Varsity Championships. I also won consecutive MIP, MVP and League awards with my school. As a team, I also helped my school win the 4x400m NYCAL relay. Being part of a team makes running and winning even more meaningful - nothing beats sharing success with people you care about.
Running competitively gives me balance in life and helps me keep a competitive mindset for everything I do in life. It has taught me the value of disciplined training: hard work always pays off. This is how I want to lead my life on the track and in the classroom.
I am ready to take it to the next level in 2023-24. My goals this year are to run a 1:55 800m and start connecting with colleges that can help me achieve my full potential both as a student and an athlete. I don't want to set limits to what I can achieve in college: I dream of running for an academically competitive DI college - the most important thing to me however will be to find a home where I can grow with a team that cares and supports me through my development as a student, athlete and ultimately a young adult.
