Hello, my name is John Ahearn. I began running track for Yorktown High School at the beginning of the spring season of my freshman year. Since that time I have learned so much about myself as an athlete as well as about running cross country and track in general. I would love to continue my running career at the collegiate level. I've made a great commitment to my high school running. I apply myself, take my training seriously, listen carefully to what my coaches have to say, and follow through with their suggestions and strategies. This is an indication that I am ready to run at the college level.
I have found a balance that works for me with regard to keeping my grades at a B+ or better and running three seasons of track. I know from this experience that dedication, hard work, and commitment are necessary. I have managed to grow in all aspects of my running while also maintaining an active high school life . I am currently the captain of my high school cross country and track team and I take this role seriously in that I guide and encourage my teammates during every practice as well as during meets. I make every attempt to lead by example and that is why I work hard to do my best at both daily practice and in competitions. I know and believe that this strong foundation and love for being part of my high school cross country and track team make me an excellent candidate to be a member of a cross country or track team at the collegiate level.
Sincerely,
John Ahearn
