My parents taught me that in life you must put all your effort and focus on what you do. That is what Eduardo Leon has done all his life. I have always been an all-around type of guy. I have been able to manage school, athletics and music for several years. On school, I’ve had grades of 95 and over since 1st grade, some years I was the highest score of the class, not only academically but also on my discipline. Both have helped me be part of the National Honors Society for several years, which has made me very proud as well as my parents. I’ve done almost every sport that school programs have to offer while have been an excellent student. I am very familiar with the concept of student-athlete as I have done for several years. Sports have taught me that in order to have positive results you must put all your effort and focus on your training. There are sacrifices in life, but if you train hard and smart, you will have good results. I remember the day I fell in love with running. It was a cross country race that transformed my life. I have always played basketball but when I was in 9th grade, my school’s athletic director asked me if I wanted to run a Cross Country race. I agreed to race and arrived in 3rd place without any training. Since that day, my love for running has grown deeply. I have been to many races and I always learn something and analyze my races so that I can be better and exceed my expectations. That is the part of training smarter. My favourite race was an AAU Cross Country race in Charlotte, NC 2017. It was a 5k in which I did 17:07.57 making it my personal best from the last one which was 19:08. Through sports I’ve learned to overcome any obstacle in life with hard work and determination. My goals as an athlete are to compete at NCAA level while representing my university and my country Puerto Rico, both with courage and pride. Academically my goal is to graduate with Honors, so that I can have a family and provide for them. But not only that, I want to pass on all I have learned to help others achieve their goals in life. I am a person who cares a lot for others and am always willing to lend a hand. I look to strive for more in my life and to fulfil my dreams with hard work, determination and a good education.
