Personal Statement

Born and raised in Portland, Oregon. I am currently a Junior at Westview High School. I grew up playing Soccer for 10+ years and joined Track & Field during my Sophomore year; Am Currently a 800m and 400m runner

At Westview, I am a part of my high school's 6A Divisional State Concert Choir, a Track & Field Captain, involved in a specialized class called HEALTH CAREERS which is Partnered with the Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA) to teach future Health Professionals, and work with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) to intertwine my faith with sports and life.

Having been training for only about 1.5 years, Track & Field has pushed me mentally more than anything, but because of that I have come farther than I ever dreamed possible. This past year worth of training has made me realize my potential in Track and Field and am excited for what my future holds. As an active leader and motivator for my teammates, I am driven by competitive spirit and willingness to put everything on the line. If there's one thing that separates me from others however, it's my ever positive attitude and influence and my ability to put and make those around me better. As a constant motivator, I have always been fascinated by the mental aspects of Sports and how it effects an individual's performance such as; what a person does when faced with adversity or when someone fails to meet their personal goals. It is what we do and how we respond during those moments that I believe defines our own success.

Track and field has taught me important life lessons such as; learning to persevere through adversity, build life-time bonds with teammates and learn to take things one moment at a time and I'm interested in seeing how far I can push myself and those around me. I hope to further my love and passion for the sport so that one day I may motivate others as a Performance Psychologist and help other understand the importance of training the mind as well as the body.
