Personal Statement
I'd like to be considered for a collegiate track team for multiple reasons. First, I am willing to work hard and put in the time necessary to become great. I can dedicate myself to the task at hand and give 100% day in and day out. I exceed in character, athletics, and academics. I've made significant achievements as a scholar and an athlete. For example, this year at the Texas Math & Science Coaches Assoc. (TMSCA) meet, a state-wide academic competition, I placed first out of all 3A sophomores in three different math competitions. One month later, I went to UIL State, another Texas state-wide competition, and placed fourth out of all 3A participants in a math competition. In 2018, my sophomore year in track, I dropped about two seconds in the two months of the season, and placed fifth in the Regional meet with a 41.25 in the 300M Hurdles. At the following Area meet, I ran a 16.67 in the 110M Hurdles. These achievements, as well as others listed on my profile, show that I am willing to put in the extra effort in order to succeed, whether it is on the track or in the classroom.
UPDATE: I achieved a time of 39.03 in the 300m Hurdles at the UIL 3A Region II Track meet in Whitehouse, TX on 04/27/19 and will advance to the state track meet in Austin, TX held on 05/10/19. I placed 3rd at the Regional meet but was chosen by wildcard due to having the fastest 3rd place time in the state for 3A. However, my 39.03 time was better than the other 3 regions' first place winners.
