I'm proof that determination and setting goals can lead to success. When I started out running track freshman year, I ran the 400 on the J.V. team. I wasn't a particularly strong runner, but I was determined to improve and find an event where I could excel. During sophomore year, I decided to challenge myself and try the hurdles with the goal of making varsity. I wanted to master something more difficult, and the unique technical aspect of the hurdles appealed to me. Within weeks, I made varsity, and I have continued to set and meet all of my athletic goals. In one year, I went from being a J.V. hurdler to being the District Champion in the 55mH and qualifying for the State Championship in the 55mH, 110mH, and 300mH. I was also very proud to be awarded my team's MVP award for winter track and spring track seasons 2019.
I want to continue to grow to my full potential as an athlete and to develop my skills at the college level. I also want to challenge myself academically and discover new interests outside of track. I am looking forward to bringing that same determination I have brought to my track career so far to my college experience, not only as an athlete but as a student.
