My name is Deontre Minor, I done came along way. Due to the fact that I was diagnose with Junior Rheumatoid Arthritis. My doctor always told me i probably wasn't going to be able to play sports, or maybe even walk again. This really had made a big change in my life, but I kept trying to play every chance I could get. After awhile I was back moving normal, and back to playing sports. My last check up, my doctor told me, that it wasn't normal for a kid to normally move there body as if it never happen.
I am a 5'6 senior sprinter and jumper from Oscar Smith High School, located in Chesapeake, VA. I have 2 years of track and field experience with Oscar Smith High School and was also 1st team All-District (6A) my junior year. My sophomore year I was in the 100m prelims, but did not make it to finals. My junior year, I placed fifth in the prelims in the 100m with my PR time of 11.27. Also placed fifth in prelims in the 200m with my PR time of 22.85. Finals i placed fourth in the 100m and sixth in the 200m. Also went to regionals, did badly in the 100m running 11.43 and was DQ in the 200m due to a false start.
I also play football, which I have been playing since I was 9. I played Peewee (ages 8-10) for a team called Campostella Titans. I played running back, corner back, KR and PR. I won player of the year my first year on the field. I played American Youth Football for a Virginia Beach, Va team called the Bulldogs (ages 13-14). I played Wing back, Corner back, Kick Return, and Punt Return. I had 8 Touchdowns for 749 yards, with 2 interceptions, 2 Kick Return, and 1 punt return. I also played my sophomore year in high school at the JV and Varsity level. I played Slot Receiver and Corner back, but my most dominate position on the field was at Special teams, such as Kick Return and Punt Return. With my lighting speed and vision on the field which help me make a lot of big plays.
I will be the first in my family to attend college. Attending college has been a life long dream for me. I am also looking forward to playing football in college wherever I run track at. Also, financial assistance is going to be very important to me in the college selection process as my family will have high need. I’m looking forward to any division, but I believe my best fit will be DII or NAIA level. Wherever I end up at, I plan to make an impact to my team.
I haven’t narrowed my major down yet, but I’m looking into Business, Accounting, and Journalism
I also can offer leadership, and hard work to a team.
I plan to continue to work hard and get better and better. I’m looking forward to achieving high goals and pursing my career to the highest competition level.
My athletic goals are to have a great freshman season, making an impact, and winning some conference championships.
