Personal Statement
My name is Tyler Vasquez and volleyball is something that has completely taken over my life, I am thinking about it constantly and I play at any and every opportunity I get. When I was younger I used to play a lot of sports but volleyball is something that just felt different to me. I loved the constant action and thrill of competition and wanted to pursue it.
I began playing in 5th grade at Sports Performance Volleyball Club and have played there ever since. Playing there has taught me that nothing ever comes without struggle, whether it being for playing time or a good team. Practicing at the hardest working club in the country has taught me valuable skills such as discipline, precision, and how to be a leader.
All of the effort I put into the game is to potentially earn a spot on a competitive college volleyball team. I am extremely determined to make it and will put forth however much work is required to do so.
Here are some of my accolades in my career: (2020) Making the USA Volleyball A1 (Best) tryout team, (2021) Being invited to the USAV NTDP Summer Training Series, Invited to USAV Fall NTDP, Team captain of my 16s team, 1st Place at 3rd Coast & Dennis Lafata,(2022) Dropping 29 digs in first varsity game, Chicago Tribune article about me, IL Prep top 25 player in class, DuPage County All-Area Hon Mention (Only sophomore / youngest on list), 12-1 Record at AAU nationals, JVA Boys Watchlist, Averaged 2.6 passing during point series weekend at libero, Invited to USAV Winter NTDP (1 of 5 Liberos in class of 2024 invited in whole country), Invited to USAV NTDP Accelerator
