Personal Statement
My goal is to be a Research Geneticist. I understand I need to earn an undergraduate degree in biology and then later pursue, at minimum, a Ph.D in Genetics.
I began volleyball my 9th grade (Freshman) year of high school. At the completion of that season, I tried out for the 14-1s team (Nationals) for Richmond Volleyball Club (RVC). I was quite excited to make Nationals and play at a higher level after 9th grade/JV.
I then played during 10th grade at my high school and soon after made the 15-1 Nationals team for RVC again. I feel as if this higher level of play increased my skills on the volleyball court drastically. I enjoyed the challenge of new teammates, new coaches, a greater level of competition, etc.
This year during my Varsity high school season (this is my Junior/11th grade year), my coach took a chance and started me during our first match. I have been a starter ever since and feel as if I earned that spot and contribute greatly to our team.
We completed our 16-1s Nationals team season July 6th in Dallas, Texas. I enjoyed this season opportunity and look forward to the growth and challenge next season will present me.
In my County, Boys Volleyball is in the Fall, so we began try-outs and practice August 1st. I am playing Opposite this season and am a Co-Captain on my Varsity team.
The growth of my confidence, self esteem, level of play and simple love of the game of volleyball now has me seriously considering playing at an even higher level. I would be honored if given an opportunity to play at the collegiate level.
I am playing on our 18-1 Club team this senior season at Richmond Volleyball Club.
