I am currently a Senior at Freeman High School in Henrico County Virginia. I have been an active member of our varsity sideline and competition teams since my freshman year. I am also starting my fifth season as an all-star cheerleader at Cheer Extreme Richmond. Before I started cheerleading, I was a gymnast from ages 4 to 14. I decided to tryout for my middle school cheerleading team in the 7th grade while also in gymnastics. The next year I decided that I wanted to commit fully to cheer and tryout for Cheer Extreme in addition to my school squad. I have been in love with cheerleading ever since then. I started all-star in 2019 on a small junior level 3 team. The following seasons I progressed to levels 4 and 5, then 4 and 6 (Worlds) then finally this past season on a level 4 team again as that was the highest level my gym had to offer that season. Ever since I started cheer, I knew I would want to continue at the collegiate level. Covid hit me really hard my freshman year of high school. Considering that was my first year in high school and we were virtual for 75% of that year, I struggled greatly with my mental health and focus due to ADHD. Over the past two years my grades have improved greatly. Even though my GPA is not up to my goal schools’ standards yet, I plan to keep working hard and progressing my grades to make up for the setback in 2020. I have increased the rigor of my course schedule every year and will be taking 2 honors classes and 1 AP class this year. I would like to cheer at a largely populated school and major in nursing or pre-medicine. As I continue to work to raise my grades and overall GPA, I hope to broaden my choice in school and find a cheer team that I will feel connected with and challenged. I hope to live out my dream of cheering in a big stadium with a roaring crowd and compete with my team at NCA Daytona or UCA in Orlando.
