My love for water polo started when I was 8 years old and my late dad enrolled me in a Splashball program. The best part about it was that he had volunteered to assist my coach in teaching us the basics. My dad had played water polo throughout high school, the high school that I currently attend. He was the hole set on the Varsity team, starting in his freshman year. He went on to captain his team and lead them to victory at MCALS. In college, he was recruited to play at UC Davis and was captain of this team. He was such an inspiration to me, that I eventually found my way back to water polo, 4 years after he passed away. I became drawn to the position of goalie after my high school coach asked me to test out my skills in cage one day. I immediately loved it, and have never looked back. I especially love being a goalie, as I am the last line of defense for the team. I also enjoy the leadership role that comes with it, where I get to encourage and guide my teammates while they play defense. Water polo has taught me how to be strong and resilient, how hard work pays off and has helped me to form strong friendships with my teammates.
During the past 2 years, my coach has allowed me to train all the other goalies on our girls and boys JV and Varsity teams. I thoroughly enjoy sharing my knowledge and enthusiasm for the sport with them.
I would like nothing more than to have the opportunity to continue playing water polo in college, where I am able to represent my school playing the sport that I love.
I appreciate your consideration.
Thank you,
Noah
