My name is Janae Ruiz, I'm currently a Senior (2018) at Ray High School in Kearny, Arizona. I'm a slapper, I play 2nd base, and outfield. I started playing when I was 10 years old. I first started out playing in little league, I had no idea what I was doing but at that moment I knew I wanted to improve my skills and start my journey to play at the collegiate level. When I was 12 I started playing with a local team called the Blazers, I played with them for 2 years. After I aged out I went to my first club ball tryout for East Valley Monsoon 14U. I continued my softball career learning life lessons from this sport and growing not only as an athlete but as a person as well.
I've made Varsity since I was a Freshman and I've had many accomplishments over the years. I have help lead my team to two State Championship titles as lead off slapper and playing second base. I have been named 1st Team All-Region, 1st Team All-Conference as well as Defensive player of the Year. As for Club, I currently play for the Arizona Hotshots Gold - Abel in Phoenix, AZ. I'm a strong believer that to be the best you have to play the best. Being a Hotshot I'm fortunate to have played against some of the best teams in the country.
Playing all these years has taught me many things, that hard work and determination, not only on the field but also in the classroom is key to becoming successful. I currently have a 3.74 GPA and I was inducted into the National Honor Society my Sophomore year. I currently aspire for a degree in business management while accomplishing top academic performance.
Having no idea how to play the game in the beginning, but hard work, dedication, perseverance, great coaches, and the support of my family I am ready to take my softball career to the next level.
