Personal Statement
I am Sydney Caldwell. I am fifteen years old. I will be sixteen on September 23. I have been playing softball since I was eight years old. I started out on the Pocahontas league we have. But, I wanted to get more serious..
My dad started me out at short stop. That was my primary position until I turned nine, or ten I believe. I then joined a traveling tournament team, DDS, Diamond Doll Softball. I played out field for them, and eventually made my way to short stop and third base on that team. I played for them for about a year. Then, the team split up. I then began trying to find other teams, though I never could quit find the right one. I continued to play for the Pocahontas league we have, pushing myself harder, and to become better than the summer before.
When I turned eleven, I began to pitch. I pitched up until I was fifteen. I am starting to cut back on it now. I became more interested in catching. I have been catching for a while, but I was only just a back up catcher. I never really committed to it, until I was thirteen, fourteen. I LOVED catching. All I ever wanted to do was to put my gear on, and become as competitive as I could be.
