Jaycee Berkey '18 Recruiting Profile

My name is Jaycee Berkey and I am a 2018 catcher. I am a Provincial champion, and have always been the starting catcher on every team I have played on. Softball has been my biggest passion for the past 6 years. My family is very involved with softball and before I started playing I was at the ball parks watching my older sister play.  My sister is three years older than me and I always wanted to one day catch in a game for her.  This year that came true.  I was asked to play up on my sisters U18 team in the Canadian Open tournament.   It was such a thrill to be put behind the plate and catch for her. My goal is to obtain an athletic scholarship and play ball at the highest level I am capable of.  Over the past few years I have practiced and taken catching clinics and physical training clinics to help me get where I am today. I consider my self to be a very aggressive catcher with a strong arm, very quick feet and the ability to block well behind the plate. I feel that I have no fear as I will block the plate from any runner big or small and I will always make the play before I think about being hurt. Softball is my life! Many coaches have admired how I want to be in the game in the dire situations because I perform well under pressure. When I am not behind the plate catching, I am either playing third base or short stop.
 
There is much more I can say about the game I love but I hope you get the chance to view my profile and you like what you see.As of right now I am unsure of my career path. A few things that interest me are personal training, and dietician.

I will lay my body down on the third base line to protect home plate for my team. I am tough, I am strong and I am alway there for my team.
