Hello, My name is Chloe Angel Garcia and I am a 2022 Catcher from Highland High School in Bakersfield, CA. I have always dreamed of playing collegiate ball for as long as I can remember. I first fell in love with softball the moment I was asked to play catcher. I was about 9 and no one else wanted to catch . Because I am someone know for having plenty of energy, I was asked to play the position. As soon as I stepped behind that plate, I knew I was home, literally. Catching has caused so much growth physically and mentally in my life and has taught me how to be an effective leader. I aspire to play collegiate ball at a college I can call home and somewhere I can feel safe and secure. I want to attend a college that has achieved the balance between academics and athletics , allowing both to thrive simultaneously . I plan to study Biology, Neuroscience, or Psychology in hopes of becoming a Neurosurgeon one day in the future. One goal I have in terms of college is to make waves at whatever school I attend. I want to touch the hearts of everyone I meet through both academics and sports. In my eyes, my grit, passion, discipline, and work ethic make me a good candidate for any team. I believe that you should never settle when it comes to your dreams and who you want to be. Growing up with just my mom has strengthen me tremendously and has shown me that I can do and be anything I want to be if I work hard enough. I will always strive to improve my game and improve my relationships with both my teammates and coaches. I am always ready and willing to work hard and put in the extra work to help my team succeed. I 100% believe in teamwork and I am convinced that teamwork does in fact make the dream work. Lastly, I think that my leadership makes me a good candidate for your team because it pushes me to be a prime example to my teammates and helps me push my teammates to grow with me. I think my optimism makes me different from most people because it helps me stay positive and keep the energy/momentum within my teammates. My optimism allows for me to be empathetic towards my teammates and be hopeful of the future. I believe that my optimism is what pushes me to always strive for more. My faith in Jesus Christ helps me show love and compassion to my teammates and helps shape my character to a significant extent. It shows me that love and empathy can go a long way; that making genuine connections within a team can completely change an individual and even a team. To conclude, I believe that my personality sets me a part from others because I am a bright and bubbly girl who is often underestimated. I am a girl who some may think is too nice or too polite but I believe that kindness is what makes me better. Kindness is what pushes me to make waves in people's lives and it also pushes me to help others and grow more myself. To conclude, my core values of heart, passion, work ethic, grit and kindness in both softball and school shape me into an ideal candidate for your school!! Thank you for taking the time to read my personal statement and have a wonderful day:)
