Hi, I’m Nevaeh, thank you for checking out my profile!
Some of the information on my profile has my last name as Franco and other information will have Cartwright which is my new last name, but I'm one in the same.
Although there were challenges for all students through COVID and distance learning, I worked hard and made the Principal’s Honor Roll both semesters and have continued to make Honor Roll during my Junior and Senior year. I believe that working from home during distance learning caused me to take more responsibility for my school work and helped prepare me for working independently just as I will have to do in college.
This Summer, 2022, I was fortunate in being chosen to attend the University of California, San Diego through my school's Upward Bound Program. I had the privilege of staying in the college dorms for three weeks, attending math and science classes, as well as other fun activities. I'm so grateful for having had this opportunity, it has given me a greater understanding of college life and living away from home. While staying there I received an award as "Kindest Classmate".
My collegiate goals are to study in the fields of science and/or medicine. Currently my plan is to become a doctor but I haven’t decided what my specialty will be. Science has always been one of my favorite subjects and I know that I want to continue my education in this area and see where it leads me, there are so many possibilities.
Since the first time I was on the field I fell in love with softball. I started playing later than most of my friends, starting on a 12U rec team. I was told I would not be able to catch up to the level of the other girls I played with because I started playing so late, hearing this only propelled me to work as hard as I could to improve my softball skills and abilities. One of my proudest accomplishments as a softball player was being selected as the only Freshman on my high school varsity team. Working with seasoned players helped me grow and push myself even harder. Last year in my Sophomore year I received the Offensive Player of the Year award and this year, I received the Defensive Player of the Year award, two awards that I am extremely proud of. I also have the honor of being appointed Team Captain for the upcoming 2023 season.
I’m in my fourth year as a travel ball player and while I love the level of competition, I have to say I really love playing during the high school season and representing my school. My dream is to continue playing softball in college and competing at the college level.
Thank you for your time and consideration, I would love to hear from you and hear what your college has to offer.
Sincerely,
Nevaeh Cartwright
