Like a lot of young girls, I have always dreamed of becoming a softball player at the collegiate level. However, I believe what sets me apart is my determination to achieve my goals. I work daily to become a better player and apply myself to a rigorous daily academic schedule. My family is supportive of my goals and my brothers push me to be my personal best. Living in Southern California I have been afforded the opportunity to play softball year-round and receive training by some of the best athletes. As a catcher, I have trained for the last two years under Jen Schroeder's facility and continue to work on getting better at my craft every day. I have been blessed to play for the Corona Angels organization and recently moved up to the 18u division under the amazing coaching of Coach Kimbo Howard. In the time we have been together I have already seen my confidence grow. Some of the qualities that make me different are my ability to connect with others and genuinely care about my teammates. I have been complimented by coaches and parents that I have a positive attitude and avoid drama. You'll never find me sitting on the bench during a game, but you will hear me cheering on each of my teammates with my fingers locked on the fence. My parents have taught me that softball is a sisterhood and it is my job to cheer them on. They have also taught me that the second part of my job on a team is to play wherever my coaches need me. Over the years I have had many humbling experiences as a softball player and I can't wait to see what the future holds.
Thank you for your time and consideration,
Makenna Paige Ramos
