Paige McLaughlin '19 Recruiting Profile

Since I began playing at the age of 8, college softball has been my goal. While my primary position is catching, I have learned to adjust and adapt in any position I play. I have been a 4-year varsity starter for my high school team, but freshman year I was placed at second base where I had little experience. I had to face many obstacles inclusing feeling like I was letting the team down at times as I was still learning the ins and outs of this new spot. However, I knew I was here for a reason and needed to prove it. Staying after practice and practically begging for more grounders led me to excel at second. My strong work ethic was noticed and I was moved to catch behind the plate sophomore year, where I have stayed since.

My leadership skills sets me apart from everyone. For the first time in 3 years, my high school coach has named me as the captain for this upcoming season. In addition I was selected as the representative of our team for a Leadership Council chosen by the coaches.

I am a three-sport varsity athlete (cross country, basketball, and softball), but I am also committed to my academics. I am #5 in my class of 260 students with a weighted GPA of 4.59 out of a 5 scale. I challenge myself in the classroom by having taken 8 AP classes. My SAT score is a 1350 and my ACT score is a 30.
