Personal Statement

I was born in Philadelphia in 2006. Shortly after I was born, my family and I packed up and moved to Mullica Hill, New Jersey. I lived In New Jersey for about seven years, that’s where my love of softball developed. In New Jersey, I played almost every sport you can think of, Soccer, Baseball, Softball, etc. In the part of New Jersey where I lived, travel sports were unheard of. There was a season for every sport, as the seasons changed, so did your sport. I moved to Florida in 2013 and that’s when I was introduced to travel. I have played competitive softball for the past 8 years and I have no plan of stopping. I would describe myself as a vocal leader on the field. It is rare to find me sitting on the bench, I am always up jumping and cheering. On tournament weekends, my voice is usually gone by Sunday morning, but that doesn’t stop me from still cheering on my girls. No matter the position I am placed in, I always do my best at backing up my pitcher. In my spare time, I enjoy taking trips to the gym along with spending time at my local fields with my father. I understand that softball will eventually come to an end, that’s why my academics are so important to me. As a freshman, I am in both honors and seminar classes, while receiving straight A’s. My goal for high school is to maintain straight A’s, have above a .300 batting average, and commit to a highly respected academic and athletic University. In life, my mother is my biggest role model. I strive to be like her when I am older because of her heart, work ethic, and drive to do her very best. When she is faced with challenging situations, she never lets her emotions break through and I admire that about her. My Dad is the reason I love the game of softball so much, no matter the time or place, if I ask to go throw, he’ll be the first one out the door with a glove in his hand. My parents have worked extremely hard to give me the best life possible, that is why it is my goal to support them when they retire someday.
