Lanie Gross '25 Recruiting Profile

Unlike many softball players with collegiate goals, I did not grow up playing softball. I was a gymnast for 7 1/2 years before I began my softball experience when I tried out for the middle school team in 6th grade.  Ever since the moment I stepped onto the field, I knew in my heart that softball would be a part of my life forever.  I worked hard to make the team and become a starter, working my way up the lineup to the lead-off spot.  Just as in the academic setting, I began to set goals for myself and surpass them, repeating those steps throughout my middle school career and into high school where I made the Varsity team as a freshman, and again as a sophomore.  I joined a travel team to get more experience and 1:1 coaching in order to advance my skills.  It proved to be a great combination along with strength and conditioning training in the weight room.  I have an unquenchable drive to succeed and win which feeds my competitive spirit on the field.  My teammates and coaches are like my family and I love that softball is the common ground that we all get the opportunity to share!
