Soccer is, and has always been, a huge part of my life. I have grown up in the sport and met some of my best friends and greatest mentors through the game. I began playing soccer at age two, and it has taught me valuable lessons in team-work and leadership.
I have usually been the youngest player on my teams. When I was 10 years old, I was moved onto the boy's U12 team for my club, and after a season with them I was moved onto the girl's U14 team. I started on my varsity team as an 8th grader, I was named the Georgia GIAA 3A State Player of the Year as a freshman, and now, our team just won back-to-back state championships! Because of the age gap between me and my teammates, I have had to learn how to lead my teams while also respecting the seniority of my teammates.
Besides the lessons and life skills that soccer has taught me, my favorite part about playing is the feeling I get during games. When I run onto the field, I feel like nothing else matters and my only focus is to play. When I score, goosebumps cover my body, and I feel alive.
I love to learn, and I am definitely a model student athlete. I have a 4.2 GPA in honors courses at my college preparatory school, and I have excellent standardized test scores. (I have not taken the ACT or SAT yet, but have done very well on the PSAT and PreACT.) I am interested in neurosciences, and I am looking for a challenging and diverse academic program.
Soccer is a part of me, and when I'm playing, I feel most myself. I hope to continue playing the game I love for as long as I can, and I hope I can contribute to my college team's success while getting a world class college education.
