My name is Katherine Porter and I am looking to continue my softball career while studying elementary education at an excellent university.
I just finished my freshman year of college at Olivet Nazarene University with a cumulative GPA of 3.64 and making the fall 2017 dean's list. While at ONU, I played on their NAIA softball team. After attending ONU for a year, I realized the school wasn't for me. I enjoyed playing on the softball team while there and being coached by a former ONU standout, Coach Hannah Gardner. The team was very competitive and I loved playing with some outstanding athletes.
During the fall of 2017, I played in all 8 games, starting in 6 of them and hit .500 with 1 HR, 2 2B and 7 RBI, playing both 2nd and 3rd base defensively. I didn't get the amount of playing time I would have liked in the spring of 2018, but I still worked hard every practice and game. I was the only player to hit a grand slam during the 2017-18 season http://www.onutigers.com/article/1939.php while helping our team to a 13-5 win! Although I only finished with a BA of .240, I did have 12 RBI, 2 HR and 3 2B. I started in 16 of 20 games while helping the team out by playing in three different defensive positions; 2nd, 3rd and LF.
All my former coaches have told me I am a very coachable player. I am willing to put in the hard work not only on the field but on my own, so I can perform at my best for my team.
If I were to play for you, I can promise you that I will be the hardest working athlete on the team. Always staying positive and supporting my teammates and continually working on my skills to become a better and smarter player.
Thank you for reading this and considering me for your team!
