My love for softball started when I was five years old. One day my mom and I went to go watch my older cousin go play softball for her travel team. At that moment watching my cousin pitch on the mound and seeing the fast plays and movement throughout the game I knew I wanted to play softball.
As I got older I started to use softball has a getaway from the stressful times in my life. I also appreciate the teachings and lessons I've been taught by playing softball. Softball has taught me discipline, respect, maturity, and leadership. I value these lessons that I've been taught so I can apply them in my everyday life whether it's at school, friends, family, adults, etc. I thrive for the competitiveness that this sport offers even if it's against my mindset sometimes or the other team. As a captain of my travel team it has made me realize in life that I can't always depend on myself and that leaning on your teammates is what they are there for and that failure is going to happen a lot in this sport but it matters how you respond. Now that I'm a freshman and I'm getting older I'm coming to the realization that I want to continue playing and getting better as person and teammate because I believe that my playing days should not be over when I graduate high school.
I find school very important to me. I take the time to study extra hours in the week and I always try to make time to do my homework or study or read even if I have to do it on the car rides to places because I want to be the best student I can be. My teachers have told me that I'm a mature, respectful, a student they look forward to seeing, and that I have much potential in life. Currently I'm on the honor roll for my graduating class and I plan on taking up to 4 AP classes for the next upcoming year. My grades are also very important for my academics. I am typically a straight A student and if I'm not I will have 1 to 2 B's that I work my hardest to bring up.
