Elayna Brdecka '22 Recruiting Profile

I am a 5’8” infielder and pitcher. I play for the Chicago Cheetahs 18u Baer, and I am a senior at Benet Academy (Lisle, IL). I was the starting varsity third baseman and shortstop for my high school during freshman year.  I planned on starting in the middle infield and having  some appearances on the mound, too, but I unfortunately couldn’t do so due to COVID .  However, during my junior year, I pitched for the majority of the 40+ game season, including winning our regional for the first time since 2013! For my travel team, I primarily pitch, but when I am not, I play third and short. I also hit in the starting lineup for both teams. I pride myself on being a student of the game and a hard worker on and off the field. I train year round for softball, and I feel my commitment to training will help not only my personal play, but also my motivation to work harder.

What is most important to me is working hard. I find myself to be very goal-oriented and tenacious. My motives would have to be my parents, my trainer and my pitching coach. They  know me to want to be the best person and player that I can be.

When I go to college, I would want the school to have a good academic program. Growing up, academics have always come first. I would want a school  that has an enrollment of at least 8,000 undergraduate students. I am open to a “suburban feeling”, but not so much city, when it comes to location. I grew up in a popular town, and I would not mind spending my years in college at somewhere similar.

Lastly, I want to play softball in college because it is my passion. I love the competitiveness, the thrill of the game, and getting to play for a team.
