My name is Alyssa Bennett, Class of 2020. I attend Trinity High School in River Forest IL where I play softball, and I play for the Blazers Travel team as a right fielder. At Trinity, I have played on varsity, my first 2 years as a runner and my junior year in right field. I helped Trinity earn the regional title during my junior year. During my time on the team, I was awarded the Trinity awards for my spirit and MVP.
I started playing t-ball at the age of 4 and later played softball at the age of 9. I played to start on a rec team and at the age of 12, I started travel ball. I have continued to play travel softball since, and have continued it through high school.
My main focus has always been academics as I am a partial IB student in the subjects of history, math, psychology, and Spanish. My high academics have allowed me to be inducted into the National Honors Society and the National Spanish Honors Society. I am fortunate that Trinity pushes me to succeed both as a woman and academically For the past two years I have worked full-time as a summer camp counselor with exposure to special needs children. This opportunity has given me the passion to major in Special Education. I am looking for a college that offers classroom observation and teaching early in the program.
As an athlete, I have always been the voice of the team. I am always communicating the plays to other players, and I make sure to help those who need assistance. I find that I perform best in game situations because I use the excitement of the crowd and my fellow teammates to fuel my abilities. I understand that softball is a team sport and that everyone must perform their part in order for the team to succeed. As a communicator on the field, I understand that I need to keep the energy high without letting the pressure get to my teammates. I hope to use these skills throughout college whether on the field or off teaching in the classroom.
