Hi, my name is Caycee Thomson and I’m currently an 10th grader at Tri-West High School in Indiana. My graduation year is 2025, but it’s never too early to explore the world of college softball.
Playing softball in college has been a dream of mine for several years. I want to play for a school who pairs well with my academic achievements as well as one that could benefit from a solid outfielder. I am also a switch hitter and I think a lot of colleges would find that to be a positive for their team. I’m very much a team player; my motto is TEAM over me always. I work hard on my workouts I receive weekly from my travel coach and I take hitting lessons twice a week. I also practice exclusively hitting with my team once a week followed by a fundamentals practice each week. Because I do something with softball four days a week, you could say I eat, sleep and live softball.
I am honored to be a member of the Blue Devils 14u team. This is my third year with the blue devils, two years at the 12u level and currently at the 14u level.
I’m lucky that I have good mentors in my life. My head coach, who is also my step-dad, played Division II baseball at Lincoln Memorial University. One of our assistant coaches played Division I baseball at IUPUI baseball in college. And finally, another assistant coach played Division III softball at DePauw University. Since they are all aware of the recruiting process as well as the rewards and challenges of playing college ball, I have excellent resources to tap into.
My favorite college player currently is Aliyah Andrews from LSU. I like her because she’s a switch hitter and plays outfield and she really works hard at everything she does. Every drill she does is full effort and I love that about her. She is also just an all around amazing athlete.
To sum it up, playing college softball is a dream that I strive to make a reality. I look forward to the process and welcome any feedback you would like to share with me!
