My sister and I both got our first degree Karate black belt on the same day in May of 2021, and in January of 2023, we were awarded our second degree black belts. Just like karate, learning pitching takes tons of patience, discipline, and constant hard work. I spend a lot of time working on accuracy, movement, and pitch efficiency, and for the last four months, I've been concentrating on increasing my velocity. Presently, I'm a contact pitcher, and I tend to average low to very low pitch counts to get my team off the field quickly. My younger sister catches for me and she is a huge help. I plan on continuing to be a hitter/pitcher in college. Starting in April of 2022, I decided on my own to weight train and to eat better to play better, and in 5 months, I dropped 42 pounds. I am very grateful for the chance to play softball at the level I do, and I am thankful for the support I get from my parents and my team. I place a great deal of importance on loyalty to any program I would play for, so I have played for only two travel teams in eight years in today's world of quick transfers and greener pastures.
In college, I plan on taking language and linguistics, hopefully to use as a translator, or maybe in some form of cryptology. I am taking Spanish Honors 3 this year, and I spent the last year teaching myself Hiragana Japanese. I am a consistent honor roll student, ranging 3.7-3.9/4.0. I would like to play highly competitive softball at a school where I can find the somewhat rare combination of a linguistic degree with a Japanese/Asian studies concentration to work towards my lifetime goals.
Thank you for reading my bio,
Abby
