Personal Statement

My name is Abby Roach, I live in White Bear Lake Minnesota. I am 16 years old. I've been playing fast pitch softball since I was 6 and I've loved it ever since. I played for White Bear Lake since I was 6 years old and now this is my 3rd season with Minnesota Force. I want to play college softball because I think it would obviously be competitive but also fun. I also think it would not only teach me but give me the experience and good life lessons along with getting an education. I also want to play because it seems like a once in a lifetime experience that you can't get anywhere else.

As an athlete I think as myself as hardworking. I work as hard as I can everyday and I try to get better everyday wither if I am on or off the field. I have a positive attitude I make a lot of people laugh and I'm always happy. I think on a college softball team that would be a good positive to have. On the other hand I also do have goals, academic and athletic. For example, 1 goal of mine on the academic side of things is to get a 3.5 GPA or above. A goal for me on the athletic side of things is for my home to first time to be 2.8 seconds or less. Another one of my goals to work on this season is to get more power and to keep working on my right handed hitting.

The kind of coach I would want to play for is a coach who understands each player individually. Another thing that I would enjoy in a coach is them being blunt. I tend to work better with coaches you are very honest and on me about my mistakes. Also, one who has a lot of experience, who can have fun at times, but also knows the time to be serious. I also would need a coach that listens to their players, and truly doesn't just care about just the players, but cares just as much about the game. I want to play on a college team where it can be a positive environment, where we all get along. I don't want my teammates to only be teammates to me, I want them to be my friends.
