Lydia Clanton - 2...Personal Statement
I am a serious softball player with big goals! Every day is filled with activities that will help me fulfill my goal of playing collegiate softball.
I play and practice weekly with the Louisiana Voodoo travel team, take private hitting lessons weekly, defensive and pitching lessons, have a physical conditioning program, attend lots of college camps, go to college softball games, etc.
I am described by others as easily coached, very respectful with a great work ethic. I think my biggest asset is my mind for the game and cool head under pressure situations. I do not play other sports because I decided to focus on softball, school, piano, and my family.
I play and practice weekly with the Louisiana Voodoo travel team, take private hitting lessons weekly, defensive and pitching lessons, have a physical conditioning program, attend lots of college camps, go to college softball games, etc.

- *** Please note that Lydia was recovering from an injury during the filming of her video*** This is the evaluation that she was given by the Softball Factory staff. : 01/24/2015 - Lydia is a talented SS / RHP with a well balanced skill set. Defensively, she understands the demands of both positions well. As a SS, her footwork is smooth and natural as she extends out front to field various balls with finesse. She has an aggressive approach and natural potential to be a leader on the field. Working on composed approach and fielding the ball first will help to improve range and efficiency. In the circle, she commands her pitches naturally as she continues to hit various locations in the hitting zone making it challenging for solid contact. Working on squaring up and body control will help to improve pitching motion to improve velocity and smooth formation. Overall, Lydia has a confident approach to playing both positions.As a hitter, she shows pop at times as her fundamentals are solid when making contact. She has natural power and will benefit from an athletic bat extension to generate more power on contact, ultimately allowing her to access the entire hitting field more effectively. Overall, Lydia has a good frame for both positions and solid athletic ability to help aid in her continued development as a player."
