Personal Statement
My name is Keegan St. Cyr and I’m from Hopkinton, New Hampshire. I have a passion for softball and have been playing softball since I was 8 years old. I live with my parents, brother, sister, and our dogs Tate and Chetty. All of the members of my family either play sports, or previously played. My mother still coaches basketball and softball.
I started playing travel softball when I was ten. At that time, my rec coach and travel ball coach recognized my speed and they started training me as a slapper. Now I am a strong left handed hitter and a skilled slapper with many tools.
I am an extremely competitive person and I thrive off of high level competition. For every team I have played for, I have always been leadoff batter and I love the challenge of being the first person to face the pitcher. As a freshman for my varsity team, I was the starting shortstop and lead off batter but the season didn't start out that way. I understand what it means to have to earn your spot because the coach had a returning shortstop and a lead off batter. It took a few weeks of practice to prove to the coach that I deserved it by hard work. I constantly give 100% effort in practices and games.
In looking at college softball teams, I look for a team that wants to work just as hard as I want to work. As a girl from New Hampshire, it’s difficult to get noticed by the colleges that I am interested in. I’m willing to take the time that you need to get to know me. I am happy to send you video, or come down to meet you and play for you so you can get to know me.
As for my life outside of softball, I am multi sport athlete. I play soccer, futsal and basketball. I attend Tilton School which is a Private school in New Hampshire. At Tilton, I earn very good grades and last trimester, I made high honor roll. I love to swim, shop and hang out with my friends. My family likes to travel together and we also go camping.
