Hello Coaches,
My name is Mya and I am 16 years old. I currently play for my High school's Varsity Team as their first baseman. I began my softball journey in my sophomore year by pure accident and am so glad I did. I am always trying to learn new things on the field during practice and in games. I also spend time watching baseball and college softball games to study players' positions, movements, and how they handle great plays as well as bad plays.
When it comes to training, I can understand what is being asked of me, I might need a little clarification and a demonstration but I can do what is asked. I make it my business to help teammates with less experience by motivating them, cheering them on, and assisting in making adjustments. I know what it's like to make a mistake and have someone be mean about it, I refuse to do that to someone else, it doesn't help the player develop and the team can fall apart. Softball is far more than throwing and catching a ball. The most crucial lesson of all is the importance of working as a team.
My goal is to get into a college with excellent academic and athletic opportunities. Academically, I do my best to stay on top of my assignments, and when there is no practice or games, I go to PM school to get clarification on assignments, catch up or get ahead of upcoming work.
