Hello, my name is Delilah Cummings. I fell in love with softball at the age of 7. I go to Sayville High School in NY which has a very competitive softball program. I had the amazing opportunity to be only the second 7th grader pulled up to varsity in 15 years. This experience allowed me to play with other girls who were already committed to playing at the highest level. The exposure to that level of play gave me the realization that I could play in college and taught me a vital aspect of softball: being a great teammate on and off the field.
Off the field, I’ve always loved to help people and give back to my community. Now that I am in 9th grade, I’ve taken the opportunity to join and pursue leadership positions in multiple clubs that allow me to do what I love, such as Athletes Helping Others and Key Club.
Softball is helping me grow into the best version of myself. It is also showing me the benefit and responsibility of being a part of a bigger family. My goal is to continue growing as both a person and an athlete by playing at the highest level.
