Personal Statement
Athletically, I love to compete. Although I play several varsity sports, Softball is what I love most. My older sister Kyrissa '99 is an amazing athlete and I have always, until recently, played up on her age bracket teams. I had to work extra hard to try and keep up with her and the older girls. In softball, this meant I sat on the bench until I could prove I was a starter. In 10u, I earned a starting position in right field, then worked my way to center. In 12u, I was asked to try the SS position and earned the starter position there. In 2013/2014, the high school team needed a 3rd baseman so I played there. In 2015/2016, the high school team needed a catcher and I volunteered. As a result I lost a lot of SS playing time but the team needed help at a position and the team comes first. I also start at SS and catcher on my Team SC 18u travel team.
While my sister, Kyrissa, is a natural talent, I am not. I have worked very hard to build skills to an elite level. All of my coaches compliment me on being coachable but how else can I get better if I don't listen? My Dad says Kyrissa is like Magic Johnson and I'm like Larry Byrd so I have to work harder but I can still be one of the best. That's my personal goal.
My college softball goal is to play with a conference championship competitive team. My teams have won many championships in Dance, Softball, Basketball, Bowling and Volleyball. Several dozen of those have been in Softball and my goal is to help my college team add another one to the list. My aspiration is to play for a national championship.
Academically, I am interested in the medical field. Physician's Assistant, Physical Therapist and Veterinarian careers are at the top of my list right now. I am an above average student but not a brain so I also work hard in the classroom to stay near the top of my class.
