Personal Statement

My name is Dayce Riberal. I have been playing softball for 10 years. I have always dreamt of competing at the collegiate level. My goals are to further my skills in softball while continuing my education.

I am a suitable candidate for your team because I am capable of being part of a team. I am a positive role model on the field and off, I’m dedicated, and encourage all my teammates to do the best they can.

One of the things I learned from playing softball was the amount of dedication and drive I have. I was told early on that I probably was not going to play at the collegiate level, because my size was a hindrance and left me without power.  While this hurt my feelings, it also made me more determined than ever to keep trying. I love softball and there isn’t a season that goes by that I don’t learn something new. If I have one message to give others it would be to believe in themselves. Strength, and character comes from within, so believe in you.

Academics are very important to me. I have maintained a 3.8 GPA freshman-sophomore year. I participate in my school’s band and choir, which has qualified for state every year. I also participated in volleyball my freshman year, and basketball my sophomore year. I am a part of my high school’s leadership crew and student body. I am a mentor for the younger students in our school. After high school, I want to continue growing as an athlete, while furthering my education. My future goal is to play softball at the collegiate level and become a nurse practitioner. I am excited and hopeful to have an opportunity to be able to play at the college level.
