Personal Statement

Softball has taught me many things over the years, it's become a driving force into the person I am today athletically and academically. Softball has opened many opportunities for me, and now that I focus on my steps in High School and Eventually college. I have set goals to first get my education in Physical therapy , 2nd play at the college level and most of all give back to the game. I would really like to be a Division 1 Softball coach. Being from a small town in West Texas my opportunity may not be as great as other girls. So every time I take the field I am determined to be a leader on the field for any of my teammates. Take every advantage of any opportunity to get better.

01/13/2017 - 2017 Softball Factory All-America Pre-Season Tournament Heliana is a Softball Factory veteran and this event really shows she has been putting in the time and effort to improve her game. Since her last outing Heliana has made improvements to her timed measurable and her tool grades. During game play Heliana was aggressive in the box and proved to be a consistent contributor. Finding a way on each at bat and showing the long ball power with a home run. At times she can get too long and staying inside the ball will help correct this. Defensively Heliana is an athletic player that is vocal every play. She gives her pitchers the confidence to work all parts of the zone. She is confident with her glove and quick to block. She has dropped her pop time to a 1.85 and is ready to challenge runners. Overall Heliana is a player that never stops working on her skill set and that will make her an assest at the collegiate level.

11/30/2016 - Under Armour Softball Factory Holiday Classic - 18U Heliana is a 2018 second baseman, catcher that has returned to the Softball Factory to play in the Holiday Classic Showcase Tournament. Defensively, Heliana has an athletic pre pitch and moves well to all sides. She works well from the ground/up with her footwork and follows with an accurate throw to her targets. Heliana has good feeds to her teammates and also shows good footwork at the bag for a quick, smooth double play. Behind the plate, Heliana has strong wrist work and works hard for her pitchers on each pitch and play. She gets out behind the plate quick to field the bunt and communicates well with her team. Heliana also makes accurate throws to second base in order to get the out on stolen bases. Offensively, Heliana is square to the plate on her set up and is on-time with her stride to contact. She loads well to her backside and stays balanced throughout her swing. Heliana is quick to contact and controls her barrel well through the zone. She engages her lower half, transfer her weight through the ball, and produces consistent power on each contact. Overall, Heliana is a coachable athlete that works hard each and every day to be the best she can be. She has a great attitude, love for the game, and hustles at all times. Heliana will do what is needed to play at the highest level and do whatever is needed to play a key role in any program.

OVERALL Position Projection: C | 2B Evaluations Are Reviewed by Lea Ann Jarvis [Tool Grade Scale] [Measurable Scale] 09/25/2016 - College PREP - San Marcos, TX Heliana returns to Softball Factory to show she has been hard at work to keep her game sharp. In the box Heliana is a consistent force. She shows good hand/eye coordination and zone awareness. She controls her bat head well and is able to put down the bunt when needed Heliana is a consistent line drive hitter that also works the gaps. Behind the plate Heliana has a confident presence. She presents a good target, receives with sure hands and has a strong wrist with her frame work. She works to get her hips around the ball for blocks and will benefit from sitting lower in her squat. She has a strong arm and shortening her arm slot will allow her to stop runners from stealing. At 2B Heliana shows good range as she stays low in her stance. She is fluid to her backhand and does a nice job of taking away balls in the 5/6 hole. Overall Heliana is an athletic player that is dedicated to the game and with continued exposure she will have the opportunity to play at the collegiate level.

12/27/2015 - Softball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament Heliana is a 2018 2B with a solid skill set. At the plate, Heliana is a confident hitter with excellent pitch selection. She had many hits throughout camp and is also a smart/aggressive base runner. She will benefit from developing better pitch selection and getting her hands more direct to the pitch. Defensively, Heliana gives maximum effort to make plays for her team. She is very active with a good pre pitch position and foot work. She has good field awareness, and covers 1B well. She will benefit from using a longer arm action on her throws. Overall, Heliana is a talented player with a lot of potential. With continued coaching and practice, she will see significant improvements in her game.

05/28/2015 - College World Series Select Training Heliana is a 2018 2B who hits from the right side with a strong bat. In the box Heliana uses a closed stance with an activated load and fluid launch to the ball. She does a nice job to take a direct route to the ball, extends thru the zone and generates good speed. She makes hard consistent contact and is a gap-to-gap hitter with the ability to hit the long ball. Creating a consistent weight transfer will allow Heliana to access her power potential when pitchers make mistakes. At 2B Heliana has a good presence and shows good field awareness. She uses efficient footwork in her approach to the ball and will benfit from playing through the ball more. She does a nice job of getting in line with her target and makes accurate and consistent throws. She is a vocal player when there is a double play and uses the bag well when making the throw to 1B. Overall Heliana is an exciting player to watch and she has the tools needed to play at the collegiate level.

Heliana has soft/sure hands, makes a good transfer and is accurate to her target. Working on playing through the ball will allow Heliana to see more carry on her throws. In the box Heliana has a square set up with good balance and on time rhythm. She takes a direct route to the ball with a level bat path, good bat speed and barrel accuracy. She makes consistent contact and makes herself a tough out. Adding a stride and load to her swing will allow Heliana to engage her lower half and see more power production. Over all Heliana is an athletic player with the ability to play at the next level.

She is direct to the ball with excellent bat speed and barrel accuracy. She is a gap-to-gap hitter with the ability to hit for power. Adding a load to her swing will help Heliana to create a little more bat angle at contact and allow her to see more consistency in her power production. Defensively, Heliana has a good athletic presence. She has a good ready position, presents her glove well and fields out in front. She has soft/sure hands and makes a good transfer. Working to add more of a pre pitch to her approach will allow Heliana to play thru the ball and not let it get too deep in her stance. She does a nice job of opening up to her glove side and works well with her first baseman. Over all Heliana is a hard worker with a passion for the game. With continued hard work and exposure she will have the opportunity to play at the next level.
