Growing up, I watched one of my older brothers Robert, play high school basketball. Watching him and the passion he had for the game fascinated me, gave me the desire to play and also taught me the basics of basketball. I started playing basketball by playing pickup games at the park with my brothers and their friends in sixth grade. In seventh grade, I tried out for a coed middle school basketball team and made the team. I have loved basketball ever since.
Playing basketball while attending school adds meaning to my life. It is competitive but also a sisterhood. Coming from a large family with many boys and a few girls, it is nice to leverage the competition and the sisterhood on a positive platform. I have met many amazing players and coaches playing basketball. It is nice to meet up in AAU tournaments, fall leagues and summer leagues. It is also exciting and inspiring to see myself and others develop year by year.
In the future, I am looking forward to playing college basketball while majoring in Pre-Med, biology or any other major that will set me on the path to Med School. Playing basketball while obtaining an education allows me to have the best of two worlds, obtain an education for a more secure future, while playing a game I love to play.
