Personal Statement
Hi, my name is Whittney. My family calls me Dupa because people are usually fooled by my appearance and stature. I enjoy science, children, singing, dancing and playing basketball. I am highly competitive, creative and I love to have fun with my family and friends. I love to watch movies ,I love to go outside with my friends and play against them and also others .I’m always on my phone I know its not good but most of the time I’m watching basketball drills or videos on how to step up my game . I often go outside and work on my shooting 100 shots a day my goal is always to get at least 75 in the basket. My ball handling skills are very good but I’m always striving to get better in everything.
When I saw Sheryl Swoopes playing basketball I told my parents that I wanted to go to the WNBA. When my parents signed me up for a team they were surprised at how well I could actually handle the ball at age five. I received a basketball for Christmas when I was five and since then I have been playing and practicing every day, winter, spring, summer and fall and being a part of an AAU team.
I am learning how to maintain my grades while playing sports in high school and at the same time I’m taking advantage of after school tutoring whenever I need to. My education is very important to me having the knowledge that education brings gives me the empowerment that only education can bring; knowing that no one can take knowledge from me is powerful within its self. I recognize that the life experience that college will bring to me will help me in my endeavor to become a well rounded educated young woman. I believe that I will someday reach my goal like so many other who have gone down this path but I must first climb the ladder of success by going to college and I am excited to begin this journey to take my place in the world.
I’m a good candidate for college because at an early age I knew what I wanted to do in life and I have always had a plan on how to get to where I see myself going, I’m looking for a school who believes in my ability just as I believe in me.
Everyone has something to offer we all have our strengths and weakness what I bring to the table is a warm, funny, determined, uplifting, and long suffering personality we are all special in our own way and I believe that we must find our uniqueness so that we can empower each other as a team and as a person.
