Personal Statement
My name is Madison Carey and I am a shooting guard for Monroe Township High School Varsity Basketball Team. I’ve been playing basketball since third grade and I would love to continue to play basketball at the next level and attain a degree in biology. I envision my college years to be a personal growth period. My goal is to explore high level academics within the field of biology that will give me the edge to pursue my ultimate goal of veterinarian school. Athletically, I want to contribute to a positive team environment. In addition to having excellent shooting, ball handling and defensive skills, I take feedback and direction well from my coaches. I have always put a high standard on my academics, while pursuing and excelling at my passion for basketball. I have played a variety of sports including softball, volleyball and basketball, but my heart is on the basketball court. There is nothing better than stealing a ball, blocking a shot or hitting a three point shot. Playing in college is my dream and I have a strong love for the game. I lead by example on and off the basketball court by maintaining good grades, displaying a team first attitude, and consistently seeking to improve my game. Outside of team practice I put in extra time with drills and shooting as well as strength training. I have a good sense of humor with my friends but on the court I have a competitive edge and have been given the nickname “Maddog”. I work hard and push myself and my teammates to be the best we can be. As I grow both physically and mentally throughout my college basketball career, I will strive to be an asset in practice, on game day, and as a teammate. Most importantly, I will conduct myself with honor and respect as I was taught by my parents, knowing that the way I carry myself reflects my team, my coaches and the school I attend. Looking forward to my future both on and off the court!
