Personal Statement

Thank you for reading my profile. My name is Taya Nelson, I am 16 years old and  I will graduate in 2027 .   I have loved basketball since I did my first basketball camp just after Kindergarden.  I was named team leader and player of the camp which was the first time a younger player recieved those awards.  I feel I have a hunger to play basketball,  I really love it.   I started as a shooting guard for Crane Union high school in Oregon my Freshman year, in which we won the State Title!  This past year I started as a shooting guard for Eagle High School in Idaho were we made it to the elite 8 in the state tournament.   I am now playing for Meta 3ssb a nationally  competetive club team based in Boise Idaho.

I have speed and a great read of the court,  I love to make the perfect pass that creates an assist and score.   I can find the hole in the defense and drive through or can pull up and shoot.   I enjoy playing up with older kid and have even played some with a  school boys program to increase my game.   I am adaptable and coachable I will play were a team needs me.

I also like other competative sports. I was a starter on Crane Unions Varsity volleyball team and won a State Title.  I compet in reined cow horse and cutting as part of high school rodeo and on the oregon idaho circuit.   I like being with other athletes and spending time working out.

Outside sports I like working with Livestock.  I am the Vice President of Harney Horns and Hoofs Livestock club.   I have raised and shown pigs, goats, steer and heifers.   I have won Grand Champion Market Steer rwice and Grand Champion Showmanship at the Harney County Fair.   I have also won Grand Champion Breeding  Heifer at Beef jackpots and the Harney County Fair.    My other love is my Horse.     Riding horses competatively takes great core and leg muscles and quick decision making  just like basketball.

I am doing well with a 4.0gpa and like school.  I like math and am thinking about a possible career in Engineering.  I also like helping others and have been helping to coach younger kids at a private gym and local basketball camps.  I could see myself teaching , tuitoring and or coaching in the future,  but most of all I want to play basketball every chance I get.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
