Personal Statement

My name is Karlie Bosma, and basketball has been an integral part of my life for as long as I can remember. I've been playing basketball since I could basically bounce a basketball. As a dedicated athlete, I have honed my skills both on and off the court. I am eager to bring my passion, determination, and talent to an esteemed program.

Basketball has always been more than just a sport to me—it's a way of life. From the first time I stepped onto the court, I was captivated by the teamwork, strategy, and relentless pursuit of excellence that define the game. Over the years, I have dedicated countless hours to perfecting my craft, pushing myself to new heights and overcoming challenges along the way. Whether it's shooting hoops in the driveway at dawn or going to the gym, I approach every aspect of basketball with unwavering commitment and enthusiasm.

In addition to my experience on the court, I've had the privilege of attending the Warwick Elite Camp and team camps at South Dakota State University (SDSU) and University of South Dakota (USD). These camps provided invaluable opportunities to train under top-tier coaches and compete against high-caliber athletes, further honing my skills and deepening my passion for the game.

Furthermore, I actively participate in AAU basketball, competing at a high level and consistently seeking to elevate my game. Outside of basketball, I am also a state qualifier in both track and cross country. These experiences have instilled in me a strong work ethic, mental toughness, and a relentless drive to succeed—qualities that I believe will serve me well both on and off the basketball court.

I also pride myself on having a high basketball IQ. I possess a deep understanding of the game, including offensive and defensive strategies, court awareness, and the ability to make split-second decisions under pressure. This allows me to contribute not only with my physical abilities but also as a leader on the court, directing plays and helping my teammates excel.

In addition to my high basketball IQ, I pride myself on being coachable, adaptable, and always eager to learn. I understand the value of feedback and am constantly seeking ways to improve my game. On the court, I am known for my tenacity as defender, disrupting opposing offenses and players. I am also a consistent and reliable shooter, capable of knocking down shots from beyond the arc and creating scoring opportunities for my teammates.

In addition to my skills as a player, I represent my class on the student council and participate in Fellowship of Christian Athletes. I have worked hard to maintain a 4.0 grade point average and hope to be a member of the National Honor Society in the future. I am also an active member of 4-H where I've developed important life skills, leadership abilities, and a strong sense of responsibility through projects like raising chickens and community service. These experiences have taught me the value of hard work, dedication, and caring for others, which I bring with me both on and off the court.

I am incredibly excited about the opportunity to join a women's basketball team and to contribute to a program’s continued success.
