I first picked up a basketball when I was 6 years old and have loved it ever since. Through determination, focus, and great coaching, I continuously improved my game. As a freshman, I started on my high school's varsity team. My natural position is Shooting Guard/Wing. However, I have experience at Point Guard. Throughout my years of playing, I have been commended about my court vision, passing, selflessness, and my catch and shoot ability with a quick release.
With every game I play, basketball humbles me and gives me something to work towards. During an AAU tournament in 7th grade, I tore my left ACL and was out for 9 months (my entire AAU summer season and 8th grade school season). At the time I thought this was the most terrible thing that could ever happen to me, but after a full recovery I realized, it might have been the exact opposite. This taught me that patience is key and mentality > physical strength. Sitting on the bench watching my teammates play was so hard, but it motivated me to work harder and harder every single day. As a captain on my club team and school team, I know how to lead by example. However, I do believe being more vocal is an area of improvement as I continue my basketball journey. The lessons I learn while playing basketball will help me on the court and anywhere in life and this is what I love most about the sport.
As a student-athlete, I prioritize my academics over everything. I participated in clubs like HOSA and DECA and hope to continue those throughout high school. I have all A's in my classes and I am an AP and Honors student always looking for a challenge. In college, I hope to pursue something in the business field.
I am confident that I am ready to buy in, work hard, and understand that discipline beats motivation. Patience is key and if you're working hard, you can just trust the process and see where it takes you.
